Our Design Process
Phase 1 - Consultation
During the initial consultation we take time to understand the scope of your project and your vision for your home. We discuss budget, timeline, and any other expectations whether you are building, renovating or decorating.
In our 2 hour paid consultation we want to get to know you and discuss in detail the scope of work.
What to expect...
- We offer initial suggestions and insight and professional opinions;
- We discuss how we work with builders and contractors so that we advocate your vision;
- With the information we gathered at the consultation, a budget for our design package for your project will be prepared and sent to you for review and approval;
- With budget approval, a letter of agreement is prepared and signed by both parties. At this time a 50% deposit is required to begin the design process.
Phase 2 - Research and Design
As a team we gather all pertinent information. Whether it is measuring an existing home, working from architectural drawings for a new-home build, or gathering information to decorate your space.
We prepare a visual presentation package showcasing all of our designs. This includes, 2D CAD drawings, colour renderings (2D or 3D), storyboards, shopping list and tear sheets of all the products we specified. We include a breakdown of product costs per room.
Phase 3 - Project Management/Procurement
If you are building, renovating or decorating your home, as a team we will guide and manage your project. We act as a liaison between you and any contractor, trade, supplier and workroom to help facilitate the project. From start to finish we will be present for all milestone phases of your project.

- Ongoing communication with contractor or builder;
- Site visits to ensure our designs are being executed;
- Troubleshoot if we run into any issues and come to a resolution with your best interest in mind;
- Communicate with you and the contractor to ensure everyone is in the loop with the progress, timeline, and budget;
- Ordering of Finishes: plumbing, tiles, flooring, etc.;
- Ordering of Hard and Soft Case Goods: millwork, furniture, drapery, lighting, area rugs, wallpaper, etc.;
- Coordinating and arranging delivery of product;
- Accepting and inspecting deliveries
Phase 4 - Styling with Accessories
We believe styling your home is the most important step in our design project phase. Styling brings out the personality of each room. By adding beautiful pillows, throws and unique accessories coupled with your own personal keep sakes-its what transforms a beautiful house into a warm and inviting home.
With many years in the design industry, Diana Bastone Designs has access to many wonderful suppliers of accessories with varying price points and styles.
